Ariel is a sweet 7-year-old spayed Italian Greyhound female. She came in from a person who dropped her off at a shelter, where she stayed for about a month.
Ariel will be a work in progress but is starting already to come around to living the life she deserves. She is very shy but will follow you around the house. Her ideal family is one with experience with Italian Greyhounds and with the needs of a sweet but scared adult Iggy, someone who will continue to help her blossom and learn to be a good doggy citizen. Her foster mom takes her out and puts her in the middle of the back yard and she wants to run back inside. She will potty before going back inside. Her potty training indoors is going slowly. She wears diapers in the home while she is learning.
If you try to pick her up, she will cower down like you're going to hurt her, so definitely needs patience and a force-free, fear-free environment. Once you have her in your lap or on the couch beside you, she loves belly rubs and ear scratches. She is hesitant about jumping on furniture but may eventually jump up. She sleeps by herself in the bathroom at night in a nice doggie bed.
Ariel does well on a leash. Taking walks with her family will help her to expand her awareness of the big wide world.
